In short: YouPay Wallet is a prepaid digital wallet you can use to recharge mobile and DTH connections, pay utility bills and transfer money. We act as a technology platform connecting you to operators, billers and licensed payment partners. Keep your PIN private, use the service lawfully, and check the details on every payment screen before you confirm — the details you enter are the details we process.
1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and YouPay Wallet ("Company", "we", "us", "our"), the operator of the YouPay Wallet platform.
By accessing youpaywallet.com, using the YouPay Wallet web application at app.youpaywallet.com, downloading our mobile applications, or creating an account, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, Refund & Cancellation Policy, Cookie Policy and Disclaimer, each of which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Service.
2. Definitions
- "Service" means the YouPay Wallet platform, including the website, the web application, our mobile applications and all associated features.
- "Wallet" means the prepaid balance maintained in your YouPay Wallet account, which you may use to pay for the services available on the platform.
- "Biller" or "Operator" means a telecom operator, DTH provider, electricity board, utility company, toll authority or other service provider whose services can be paid for through the platform.
- "Payment Partner" means a bank, payment aggregator, payment gateway or other licensed entity that processes the movement of funds.
- "Transaction" means any recharge, bill payment, money transfer, wallet top-up, refund or reversal carried out through the Service.
3. Eligibility
To use the Service you must:
- be at least 18 years of age and competent to contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872;
- hold a valid mobile number registered in India;
- not be barred from receiving services under any applicable law; and
- provide accurate, current and complete information during registration.
If you are using the Service on behalf of a business entity, you represent that you are authorised to bind that entity to these Terms.
4. Your account
4.1 Registration
You register using your mobile number, verify it with a one-time password (OTP) and set a private transaction PIN. Your mobile number is the primary identifier for your account.
4.2 Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your PIN, OTP and login credentials, and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:
- never share your PIN or OTP with anyone, including anyone claiming to represent YouPay Wallet — our staff will never ask for them;
- notify us immediately at support@youpaywallet.com if you suspect unauthorised access;
- keep your registered mobile number and email address up to date; and
- log out of shared or public devices.
We are not liable for losses arising from your failure to keep your credentials secure or from your sharing of OTPs or PINs with third parties.
4.3 One account per user
You may hold only one YouPay Wallet account. Creating multiple accounts to abuse promotions, cashback or referral programmes may result in forfeiture of benefits and suspension.
5. The wallet balance
- The Wallet is a prepaid balance maintained for your convenience. It is not a bank account and does not earn interest.
- You may load your Wallet using the payment methods offered at checkout. Funds are credited once our Payment Partner confirms the payment.
- Wallet balance may be used only to pay for services available on the platform, and may be subject to limits set by us or required by applicable regulations.
- Wallet balance is non-transferable to another user's wallet unless a transfer feature is expressly offered, and cannot be exchanged for cash except as described in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
- Promotional credits, cashback and reward amounts may carry their own validity periods and usage conditions, and are not withdrawable as cash.
6. Services offered
Through YouPay Wallet you may, subject to availability, carry out:
| Category | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Mobile recharge | Prepaid top-ups and postpaid bill payments across supported operators |
| DTH & cable | Recharges for supported direct-to-home and cable television providers |
| Utility bills | Electricity, water, piped gas, LPG booking, broadband and landline |
| FASTag | Top-ups for supported toll tag issuers |
| Money transfer | Transfers to bank accounts or wallets through licensed partners |
| Other services | Additional categories such as insurance premiums may be added over time |
Service availability depends on our Billers and Payment Partners. We may add, modify, suspend or withdraw any category at any time without prior notice.
7. Transactions & confirmations
7.1 You are responsible for the details you enter
Mobile numbers, consumer numbers, subscriber IDs, account numbers, IFSC codes and amounts are processed exactly as you enter them. We cannot verify that a number belongs to you or to your intended recipient. Please check every field on the confirmation screen before you authorise a payment.
7.2 Processing and status
Transactions are submitted to the relevant Operator, Biller or Payment Partner in real time. Some confirmations are returned asynchronously, so a Transaction may show as pending for a period before it settles as successful or failed.
7.3 Records
Every Transaction is recorded with a unique reference number, timestamp and status in your transaction history. Our records shall, in the absence of manifest error, be conclusive evidence of the Transactions carried out through your account.
7.4 Limits
We may apply per-transaction, daily or monthly limits on wallet loading, spending and transfers, and may vary these limits for risk, regulatory or operational reasons.
8. Fees & charges
- Creating and maintaining a YouPay Wallet account is free.
- Certain services may carry a convenience fee, service charge or payment gateway charge. Any such charge is displayed on the confirmation screen before you authorise the Transaction.
- Taxes, including Goods and Services Tax, apply where required by law and are charged in addition to the amounts shown, unless stated otherwise.
- We may revise fees at any time. Revised fees apply to Transactions carried out after the change takes effect.
You are responsible for any charge your own bank, card issuer or network operator levies in connection with a Transaction.
9. KYC & verification
Where required by applicable law, regulation or by our Payment Partners, we may ask you to complete identity verification (Know Your Customer) before you can use certain features or exceed certain limits. This may include submitting officially valid documents and completing verification checks.
We may restrict, limit or suspend access to features until verification is complete. You agree that the information and documents you provide are true, accurate and belong to you.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- carry out or facilitate money laundering, terrorist financing or any other financial crime;
- make payments in connection with any activity prohibited under Indian law;
- impersonate another person, or use payment instruments you are not authorised to use;
- abuse promotional offers, cashback or referral programmes, including through automated means, multiple accounts or collusion;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems;
- introduce malware, launch denial-of-service attacks, scrape, reverse engineer, decompile or otherwise interfere with the operation or security of the Service; or
- resell, sub-license or commercially exploit the Service without our written consent.
We may report suspected unlawful activity to law enforcement and regulatory authorities and co-operate fully with their investigations.
11. Third-party services
YouPay Wallet operates as a technology platform. The underlying services — telecom recharges, electricity supply, fund settlement and so on — are provided by Operators, Billers and licensed Payment Partners, not by us.
Accordingly:
- we do not control, and are not responsible for, the quality, timing, availability or correctness of services delivered by a third party;
- delays or failures caused by an Operator, Biller, bank, payment gateway or network outage are outside our control;
- any dispute concerning the underlying service (for example a plan not activating, or a billing dispute with an electricity board) must be raised with that provider, although we will assist you with transaction evidence; and
- third-party names, trademarks and logos shown on the platform belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the services available.
12. Intellectual property
All content on the Service — including the YouPay Wallet name and logo, software, source code, design, graphics, text, icons and their arrangement — is owned by or licensed to YouPay Wallet and is protected by Indian and international intellectual property laws.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the Service for your own lawful use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, publish, create derivative works from or commercially exploit any part of the Service without our prior written permission.
13. Suspension & termination
13.1 By us
We may suspend, restrict or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that:
- you have breached these Terms or any applicable law;
- your account is being used fraudulently or for suspicious activity;
- we are required to do so by a regulator, court, bank or Payment Partner; or
- continuing to provide the Service would expose us or other users to risk.
13.2 By you
You may close your account at any time by writing to support@youpaywallet.com. Any remaining Wallet balance will be handled in accordance with our Refund & Cancellation Policy, subject to verification and to any statutory retention requirements.
13.3 Effect of termination
Termination does not affect Transactions already completed, amounts already due, or any rights and obligations that by their nature survive termination — including clauses on liability, indemnity, intellectual property and governing law.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- the Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied;
- we do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components;
- we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary damages, or for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, however arising; and
- our aggregate liability in connection with any Transaction or claim shall not exceed the value of the specific Transaction giving rise to the claim, or ₹10,000, whichever is lower.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud.
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless YouPay Wallet, its directors, officers, employees, partners and agents from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, penalty, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, your violation of any law, or your infringement of any third-party right.
16. Force majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, epidemics, fire, flood, war, civil unrest, strikes, government action, regulatory change, failures of telecommunication or banking networks, power outages, internet disruption or cyber attacks.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, business practices or the law. The revised Terms take effect when published on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify you — for example, by a notice in the app or an email to your registered address. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
18. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at Kolkata, West Bengal.
Before commencing any proceedings, you agree to first raise the matter through our Grievance Redressal Policy so that we have a fair opportunity to resolve it.
